Life After Marriage And Children

Life after marriage or children means...

For the first few years. Blissful. Honeymoon. Romantic date nights. Love is in the air.

Love Is In The Air πŸ’•

Still Blissful

After the first child. Sleepless night. Vacation means at least 3 large size luggages. Eating out means, only child friendly restaurant. You still love each other and every time you look at your beautiful baby, you felt so blessed and all your hard work (changing night diaper, midnight milk pumping, baby taking over the bed, etc), so worth it.

After the second child, still sleepless. Vacation means no more than 2 hours flight, choose either Thailand or Singapore. Indonesia also can. Eating out, only air conditioning restaurant that have baby chair. Still love each other, but no more hand holding when going out. Each hold a child.

#2

After the third child. 5 to 6 hours of sleep should be sufficient for you. Your body is used to it by now. What vacation? You are lucky if you can eat out. Watch more cooking show, learn to cook. Love, yes of course. If you have the time.

On a lighter note, we still have time to take family portrait.

Love. Trust. Believe. Laughter. Compromise. That's all we need.

Life Before Marriage And Children

Life before marriage and children means...

You think about each other everyday. You say I love you everyday. You call and text each other everyday. You hold hands. You kiss goodbye. You go to movie date nights. You celebrate anniversary, birthday, etc. You go on exotic holiday. You buy each other gifts. You take tons of pictures together. List goes on.

After my first born arrived, hardly any picture of just the two of us. Took me forever to dig out this recent one.

Ten

We have been together for 10 years now. Married for 9. Technically, we registered our marriage 10 years ago, only held the wedding banquet/reception a year later because of feng shui. Too many dates, but it does not matter much to me. We don't really celebrate anniversary. Not that my man is not romantic, but I do not think is important. As long as we are happy together, everyday is a special day to me.

But life is not a bed of roses for us too. We do have our ups and downs. Every couple does. There were days I fall head over heels in love with him over and over again. And also days that I want to strangle him. But usually we are too busy to notice all this. Children. Work. Routine, etc.

But nevertheless, he is the love of my life. He is a loving and responsible husband and father. He put us before himself. He is a great man.

S H O P | IKEA Tebrau

We were so geared up for the opening of IKEA Tebrau. Literally prepared. Woke up in the morning and received a text from a good friend, massive queue, and the store have not even open yet! No chance for Tiny and I. Daddy needs to work and the older children were in school.

Sorry, we have failed you IKEA!

Tried our luck 6 days later, Wednesday. Printed the shopping list. Got the best parking. Got all my stuff, ate ice creams, bought some gummies and curry puffs. Even went to smaland. Mission accomplished.

Generally the store is great. Guest, however need to take care of stuff. The ladybug machine for points collection in Smaland was out of order, less than a week? Washroom, even when the store provided the best disposal bins, please try not to spoil it. Take care like your own. Don't wet the toilet as if you are going to take a shower. Totally understand is a family concept store, if all of us take good care of it, wouldn't it be nice?

There are a number of staffs that had been transferred here from KL. They were really friendly and helpful. I printed my list, pass it to them to pick up and deliver straight to my house. RM25 + RM80. I have few bulky items, totally worth that extra RM105. Assembly. 10% of the furniture price. For a Dombas unit RM449. I paid RM45 for them to install. Totally worth it.

My first visit was great, will definitely be back for more!

Music

When we were young, we do not have the opportunity to learn music. Is not really important, but I would love my children to play some music, for leisure. What we missed out last time, we would like to give them to try.

Princess started with piano. She didn't really enjoy it. We stopped for a while. Then she asked for violin. Surprisingly. So we start again with violin, this time she really enjoyed it. Teacher Liaw teaches the conventional method, ABRSM. Theory and Practical. Then we moved to JB, and lucky us there is a music school right opposite AHIS. Fiddle Music. Suzuki Method. Never heard of it before, but it was really good. Princess progresses really fast. So proud of her.

Then we enrolled Speedy for piano lesson. Few lessons later, he can play some simple song, so proud. We bought a keyboard for him to practice. Daddy make sure he practices almost everyday for at least 10 minutes before going to bed. Surprisingly also. Daddy were not so into music. But he is a great father to our children.

Fun Festivities

It has been almost a year since we started with AHIS. The children loves the school. Especially when they get to dress up now and then for different festivities.

Last month was Halloween. This month is Austin Heights Got Talent/Children's Day. Next month will be Christmas. So much fun, no wonder they liked it so much.

Happy Birthday 2017

Our biggest birthday bash was way back in year 2011. In Narathiwas Residence, Bangkok. It was Princess's second birthday, a month before Speedy was born. It was really fun. But also really tiring. So we decided, instead of having a big birthday bash every year, we will have nice holiday for ourselves instead.

Princess #2 Birthday
We still celebrate. Just simple dinner with family with special cake and extra toys to make up for it. Nothing extravaganza.

This year, we did it in the school, which was so cool. We had lots of fun and all the children really enjoyed it. It was simple, yet meaningful. All their friends was there, and they felt special on that day. That's the best gift ever. To see my children happy.

First Day Of School

We started to look for school as soon as Daddy got the notice of transfer. Our first choice were definitely Singapore. No doubt Singapore's education is one of the finest. But to get into the school is not easy, especially for non citizen or PR. To enroll to Primary 1 (P1), Princess have sit thru an assessment test, AEIS, held usually mid year. Every year the enrollment exercise usually have 3 phases, first 2 were meant for Singapore Citizen (SC) and PR, and we belong to Phase 3. Only the best will be selected and allocation for foreigners are always limited. If you are lucky enough to have a placement, you have to accept whichever school you have been posted and that's final. Even if is far from your home. Singapore MOE, all school is good school. No appeal.

We missed the boat to apply for year 2017. As the AEIS were held in mid year and we got the notice in September, it was too late. As Daddy plan to apply PR as soon as he start his work in January, so we decided to wait till 2018 enrollment exercise and by the time, hopefully if all goes well, our PR will be granted and it will be easier for us to apply for the school. For PR, we do not need to go thru AEIS. By the way, fees for AEIS is about SGD600-SGD700, no refund, no appeal. And for PR, we still need to pay monthly school fees, but slightly lower than foreigner’s fees.

For now, our only option is to enroll them into school in JB. We have visited a few schools :
  • Austin Height International School
  • Seri Omega Private School
  • Sri Ara International School
  • Tenby International School

We chose Austin Height International School as we felt that's the best choice. There is early years, primary and secondary, which is great as I wanted to send both Princess and Speedy together. School is big, facility is great and staff are friendly. Fees is also reasonable.

We started mid term in January 2017. For international school, Term 1 usually starts in August/September. They were very excited on the first day, but the most excited of all, were of course me. As mom, I think most can relate, that first day of school is always one of the most emotional. Like your baby is going to school, how time flies, and now they are so grown up, stuff like that. Always a teary moment.

Princess were just few months shy 6 years old, she was placed in Year 1, and Speedy at 4 were placed in reception year. Now Princess is in Year 2, and Speedy is in Year 1. All in under a year time.
